Pirates Split with Vancouver Expos in Games of No Mercy

The North Delta Pirates opened their regular season with an entertaining doubleheader split against the Vancouver Expos on Saturday, as both teams traded decisive victories in a high-energy start to the campaign.

In game one, the Pirates faced a strong offensive push from the Expos, ultimately falling 17–7 despite a resilient showing at the plate. North Delta demonstrated its ability to respond under pressure, highlighted by a five-run surge in the fifth inning. Key contributions came from throughout the lineup, including a two-hit, two-RBI performance from Tyler Conway and timely run production from Oskar Bergen and Lucas Stebbings. The Pirates also showed patience offensively, drawing multiple walks and continuing to compete into the game even when facing a 10-1 deficit early in the game.

The second game saw a complete turnaround, as the North Delta Pirates delivered an emphatic 15–4 victory over the Vancouver Expos. Setting the tone early, the Pirates jumped out to a first-inning lead and never looked back. Noah Grant led the charge with an outstanding performance, driving in four runs on three-for-three batting, while Stebbings added a lead-off home run as part of a six-run third inning that put the game firmly in control. The Pirates’ offensive depth was on full display, with contributions spread across the lineup and consistent pressure applied on the base paths.

On the mound, Connal Grant, the youngest player in the league, got the start and the win, working a complete-game five innings and keeping the Expos in check while his offense built a commanding lead. Across both games, North Delta’s pitching staff showed an ability to attack the strike zone early in counts and generate swing-and-miss, while the defense contributed key plays, including a well-executed double play in the second contest.

Overall, the split result reflects a promising start for the Pirates, who showcased offensive firepower, aggressive base running, and resilience throughout the day. With the season now underway, North Delta carries positive momentum forward as they prepare to host the Township Bluesox in a home opening double-header on Sunday.
