A refusal to be outworked …
Connal Grant — #15
Pitcher | Infield | Outfield | 6’1”, 152 lbs | Bats/Throws: Right/Right | Hometown: North Delta, BC
There are players who rise to the level they’re placed in and then there are players who earn the right to play up. Connal Grant has built his baseball journey on the second path.
Entering the 2026 season, Grant is the youngest player on the North Delta Pirates roster — a Grade 9 athlete competing in a league made up of players in Grades 10–12. It’s a challenge he welcomes. In fact, it’s familiar territory. Since 2018, he has consistently played a year up against older competition, earning his place through natural talent, competitiveness, and a refusal to be outworked.
Grant has spent 10 years in North Delta baseball, developing within the community and embracing every opportunity to grow. In 2023 he represented BC, competing in the 13U Western Canadian Championships – a tournament cut short by the epic forest fires in Kelowna that year. In 2024 he was selected to the BCMBA 13U select team and in 2025 he was selected to Baseball BC’s 14U Zone 5 Summer Games Select Camp Roster. He has had many great experiences but counts his most memorable experience participating in the 15U AA Provincials in Victoria in 2025 — a tournament that combined high-level competition with the kind of team bonding that makes baseball unforgettable. Competing against strong teams has only reinforced his desire to push himself further.
Versatility is one of Grant’s defining traits. Few players can legitimately contribute both at pitcher and all infield and outfield positions, but he can. That adaptability makes him a valuable asset in multiple situations. On the mound, he competes with intensity. In the field, he plays with energy and confidence, demonstrating awareness and leadership. Coaches appreciate his flexibility; teammates appreciate his reliability.
His strongest attributes begin with work ethic and competitiveness. Grant approaches every practice and game with purpose, determined to improve. Coaches from previous teams in multiple sports have repeatedly encouraged him to pursue elite club opportunities, recognizing both his ability and his drive. Yet beyond talent, what sets him apart is his good-natured commitment to his teammates. He wants those around him to know he has their backs, on the field and off.
Away from baseball, Grant is a true multi-sport athlete. He competes in ball hockey, track and field, basketball, and volleyball, bringing the same intensity to each sport. And in 2025 he was named Seaquam male athlete of the year, an honour that he shared in the same year with his older brother Noah. That broad athletic foundation enhances his speed, coordination, and endurance. But athletics are only part of the picture.
In the classroom, Grant is equally dedicated. He consistently earns high standing and is regularly recognized for academic achievement. He takes pride in completing work thoroughly and on time, balancing a demanding sports schedule with disciplined study habits. He is also a gifted artist, demonstrating creativity and focus beyond athletics. In 2025 he was runner up for top English student in his grade.
For scouts and future programs, Grant wants one message to be clear: he thrives when challenged. Playing up against older athletes has shaped his confidence and resilience. He is driven, coachable, and committed to continuous improvement. Even as the youngest player in the league, he is determined to make a positive difference.
As the 2026 season unfolds, Connal Grant, together with other up-and-coming athletes, represent the future of the program. A young athlete already competing beyond his years with versatility, competitive fire, academic excellence, and a team-first mindset, #15 is not just keeping pace with older competition, he is earning his place among it.
