Assistant Coach Shaun Jones is a commanding presence on the field, known as much for his gravelly voice and motivational fire as for his deep technical expertise. With over 12 years of coaching experience across North Delta — from Blast Ball to 18U AAA — Shaun brings a wealth of knowledge and a no-nonsense approach to developing athletes at every level of the program. His tenure includes coaching multiple teams in a single season, always with a focus on building skills, confidence, and leadership in his players.
Shaun holds Baseball Canada NCCP 16+ certification and serves as the Pirates’ skill-specific catching instructor, and it’s here that his combination of intensity and mentorship shines. He works closely with catchers on receiving, framing, blocking, and throwing accuracy, while emphasizing the mental side of the position: managing pitchers, reading the game, and commanding the field with authority. Players quickly learn that a catcher under Shaun’s guidance is not just a position — it’s a role of leadership, accountability, and influence.
Beyond his tough exterior lies a strawberry-scented, teddy-bear coach deeply committed to his players’ growth both on and off the field.
