Scott Ormston — #2

Catcher | 5’11”, 155 lbs | Bats/Throws: Right/Right | Hometown: North Delta, BC

Every team needs a player who sees the whole field. For the North Delta Pirates in 2026, that role belongs to catcher Scott Ormston — a player whose understanding of the game is as important as any throw he makes.

Ormston enters his first season with the Pirates as a Grade 10 athlete, but he brings a long history in local baseball. He began playing in Newton before moving to North Delta, where he has spent most of the past decade developing through levels ranging from Single A to Triple A. Now in his 13th season, he carries with him years of experience and a deep familiarity with the players and community around him. His most meaningful baseball memories aren’t a single play or championship moment, but the relationships — growing up alongside teammates and building lasting friendships through the sport.

Behind the plate, Ormston’s strongest tools are his arm strength and baseball IQ. He studies situations, communicates with pitchers, and works to understand hitters’ tendencies. Catching demands leadership and awareness, and he embraces the responsibility. He prepares diligently, often training on his own outside scheduled practices, always trying to better understand the details of the game.

His team-first mindset defines his approach. He consistently gives full effort, whether in practice or competition, and pushes himself to improve each day. He wants coaches and evaluators to recognize his work ethic and his commitment to learning the game at a deeper level — not just playing it, but thinking it.

Away from baseball, Ormston is equally active. He plays football at Seaquam Secondary, lining up at both quarterback and linebacker, positions that reflect his competitiveness and leadership. He is also a musician, having played drums for nearly seven years at school, church, and in his free time — a balance of discipline and creativity that mirrors his personality.

In the classroom, he maintains strong academic priorities and works to keep school and athletics in balance, ensuring neither suffers because of the other. He approaches both responsibilities with organization and focus, demonstrating the habits of a true student-athlete.

A fan of Mike Trout, Ormston admires players who combine talent with preparation and consistency — traits he aims to model himself. As the 2026 season begins, #2 brings the Pirates a reliable presence behind the plate: a catcher who leads, communicates, and supports his team every inning. Through preparation, intelligence, and steady effort, Scott Ormston helps shape the game one pitch at a time.
