North Delta Pirates Win Two of Three in Prince George; Showcase Resilience and Depth

Saturday Game 1: North Delta Pirates Drop Opener to Vancouver Mounties White in Tight Contest

Prince George, B.C. — The North Delta Pirates 18U AAA opened their weekend road trip with a narrow 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Mounties White on Saturday at Citizen Field in Prince George.

The North Delta Pirates struck early, manufacturing three runs in the first inning courtesy of a walk to Payton Harper, a groundout by Cole James, and a balk from Mounties starter Bradley Chiang. But the lead was short-lived. Vancouver responded in the second with a pair of runs and added more in the fourth to pull ahead for good.

Despite a gritty relief appearance by Liam Jones—who tossed four innings and allowed just one unearned run—North Delta couldn't claw back. Starter Dakota Simicak gave up two earned over two frames and was tagged with the loss.

Offensively, North Delta was held to just two hits—one apiece from Harper and Tyler Conway. The team showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks and stealing two bases, both by Simicak.

Vancouver was led by Mikell De La Cruz, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI from the leadoff spot, while Chiang turned in a strong pitching performance with 7 strikeouts across 4.2 innings.

Saturday Game 2: North Delta Pirates Outlast Prince George Knights in Fiery, Come-From-Behind Win

Prince George, B.C. — Emotions ran high in Saturday’s second matchup as the North Delta Pirates outslugged Prince George 9-6 in a fiery contest that featured big bats, momentum swings, and heated exchanges.

The Pirates opened with a statement, scoring twice in the first. James’ groundout plated both runs. They added another in the third, but it was Prince George's five-run surge in the fifth that momentarily flipped the script, with Logan Littler and Austin Mereski delivering back-to-back doubles to make it close.

But North Delta responded, capitalizing on nine hits and eight walks in the game. Eliaz Murti led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4, while James and Harper each drove in runs in clutch situations.

Noah Grant was a force on the mound in relief, striking out 11 across four-and-one-third innings to earn the win. The Pirates were flawless in the field, turning a double play and committing no errors.

Sunday Game 3: Six-Run Fourth Propels North Delta Pirates to Dominant Win Over Prince George Knights

Prince George, B.C. — A six-run outburst in the fourth inning was all the North Delta Pirates needed to cap their weekend with a convincing 8-1 victory over the Prince George Knights on Sunday.

Connor Wilson and Simicak each delivered two-run doubles during the decisive frame, while Harper added an RBI groundout as the Pirates blew the game open.

Kesler Curtis turned in a complete-game gem, limiting the Knights to just one run over seven innings while fanning six and walking two. He kept the Knights off balance all game, scattering four hits and earning a well-deserved win.

Grant continued his hot weekend with a 2-for-3 performance, and both Wilson and Simicak finished with two RBIs apiece. Defensively, the Pirates once again played error-free baseball.

For the Knights, Littler was a bright spot, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases as Prince George managed six steals but couldn't convert on scoring opportunities.

The North Delta Pirates leave Prince George with a 14-3 record, showcasing resilience and depth over the weekend. After a tough-luck loss in the opener, the team rebounded with strong pitching performances, timely hitting, and disciplined defense. They return to action in a game that is closer-to-home next Saturday against the Cloverdale Rangers.
